Charles R. (Dick) Ward is a retired Professor of Chemistry (with a secondary appointment in Computer Science) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (1980-2010). While at UNCW, his research interests focused on the use of technology to improve teaching and learning in science and mathematics. In addition to his role as a professor, Dr. Ward also served as the Director of the Science and Mathematics Education Center (1987-1994), Founding Director of the Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics Program (1986-1994), Founding Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence (1991-94), Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Special Academic Programs (1994-1997), and Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (2000-2005). Dr. Ward and his wife, Kay, now live in Fort Collins, Colorado.
