Comments:
The Daisy Powerline 144
is an 8" chrome-plated version of the Model 44. Daisy
manufactured the Model 44 from 1987 to 2001, but made the Model
144 only between 1989 and 1990. This is a nice all metal replica
of the Smith & Wesson Model 29. It has a swing-out
cylinder for loading pellets. The accuracy of this gun is very
good, putting 6 shots in an area the size of a dime. It's too
bad Daisy didn't increase the capacity of the magazine since
there is plenty of room for at least 10 pellets. The trigger is
a little heavy in DA mode, but the SA mode has a crisp break at
5.7 lb.
The Model 44 and 144 are the only CO2
revolvers ever produced by Daisy and, in my opinion, are the best
replica handguns the company ever made.
Performance:
Measurements were made on
9/22/06 at a temperature of 78 ºF and 14' elevation. A ten shot
string was fired from a bench rest at 15' using RWS
Meisterkugeln Pistol & Rifle pellets (7.8 gr). The highest
velocity measured was 464 fps, the lowest was 395 fps (average
of the 10-shot string was 432 fps). A six shot string fired with
open sights grouped at 0.45". Click the thumbnail below to see a
