Comments:
The Daisy 41 is Daisy's
version of the S&W 79G. The S&W airguns were based on a
design from a former Crosman engineer and the actions closely
resemble the venerable Crosman Mark I and II. Daisy bought the airgun division of S&W
in 1980 and produced the S&W 78G and 79G as the Daisy 41, 780 and
790. In the Model 41, Daisy replaced the metal loading bolt mechanism of the S&W
79G with a plastic version and modified the cylinder piercing
mechanism. The revisions work OK, but feel flimsier than
the original S&W versions. Although the fit and finish of
the Daisy models is not up to the standards of the original S&W
guns, the performance is comparable. The accuracy of this
particular Model 41 is excellent.
Performance:
Measurements were made on
10/21/06 at a temperature of 75 ºF and 14' elevation. A ten shot string was fired
from a bench rest at 15' using RWS R-10 pellets (7.0 gr).
The highest velocity measured was 501 fps, the lowest was 483 fps
(average of the 10-shot string was 492 fps). A six shot string
fired with open sights grouped at 0.22". Click the thumbnail below to see a
