Comments:
This airgun, made in Taiwan by KWC for
ASG, is an excellent replica of the CZ 75D Compact handgun. The
CZ 75D airgun uses a high quality polymer for the slide and
frame. The grip panels are made from non-slip rubber. The
magazine base pad is also made from rubber. The fit and finish
are very good with no ugly gaps and few noticeable seams.
Working controls on this airgun include the hammer, mag release,
and safety. The slide stop lever is molded into the frame and is
non-functional. The slide can be moved back and forth by hand to
cock the hammer, but the ASG CZ 75D does not have a blowback
mechanism. The trigger can be operated in either single-action
(SA) or double-action (DA) mode. Muzzle velocities were similar
in both modes. The double-action pull (7.8 lbs) is long and
smooth with a good break. The single-action pull (3.1 lbs) has a
short first stage and a crisp second stage.
The ASG CZ 75D employs a
removable magazine that incorporates the BB magazine, the CO2
cartridge compartment, and the gas valve. Loading BBs is very
straightforward. First, pull the spring follower all the way
down and lock it in position. Load BBs through the loading port
located just above the tip of the follower. Be sure to release
the follower when you are finished loading BBs. Loading and
piercing a CO2
cylinder is done a little differently on the ASG CZ75D than on
most other airguns. The piercing screw, located at the bottom of
the CO2
compartment, can be adjusted up and down and also can be tilted
outward. The piercing screw is adjusted so that when a CO2
cylinder is placed on the outwardly tilted screw, pushing in on
the base of the cylinder forces it in and up against the
piercing pin, thus puncturing (in theory) the cylinder.
Fortunately, ASG has supplied an access hole at the base of the
magazine where a screwdriver can be inserted to tighten the
piercing screw should the cylinder fail to pierce. The ASG CZ
75D Compact is a well-made and faithful replica of the CZ
firearm. It is an accurate and reliable shooter that produces
about 50 good shots per CO2
cylinder. Shot-to-shot velocities are pretty consistent as long
as the gun is not fired rapidly. While all CO2
guns lose power when fired rapidly, the ASG CZ 75D drops off
faster than most.

Performance:
Measurements were made on
10/14/2011 at a temperature of 72 ºF and 5000' elevation. A ten shot
string was fired from a bench rest at 15' using Daisy Avanti
Match BBs (5.5 gr).
The highest velocity measured was 409 fps, the lowest was 368 fps
(average of the 10-shot string was 396 fps, s = 14). The average
velocity was very close to the advertised value of 390 fps. A
five-shot string
fired with open sights grouped at 0.46". Click the thumbnail below to see a
larger image.

here for a description of the measurement methods.

Four different brands of BBs were
tested with the CZ 75D. The targets below show the results
for firing five-shot groups from 15' using a bench and open
sights with Crosman Copperhead BBs (1.45"), Daisy Avanti BBs
(0.97" with one called flyer), Daisy
Precision Max BBs (1.19"), and RWS Match Grade BBs (1.18").
Daisy Avanti BBs produced the best results. All
measurements are center-to-center.

Loading CO2:
The removable magazine holds the CO2
cylinder, BBs, and the gas valve for the airgun. The method for
loading the CO2
cylinder is somewhat unconventional. The piercing screw is a
tilt-out mechanism. The screw is adjusted so that when the
cylinder is installed, pushing in on the bottom of the cylinder
causes the cylinder to move in and up. If everything goes well,
the cylinder will be properly pierced. If it doesn't, you can
adjust the piercing screw by turning it with a screwdriver
through an opening in the bottom of the magazine.

The ASG C75D comes with a combo tool
that contains a hex key for adjusting the rear sight and a
screwdriver bit for making adjustments to the piercing screw.
